~°•°Prambanan Temple°•°~

Prambanan Temple is one of the historical relics that still exist today. This temple has an amazing shape that can attract the interest of many people. The ornaments engraved on this temple are also one of the attractions of this site. Many visitors come to see the unique ornaments here.

This is the most famous and most magnificent temple in Central Java or rather a complex temple. Located about 15 kilometers from Yogyakarta. The top of the main shrine is visible from a distance and towers over the ruins of the former temple. Prambanan is a masterpiece of 10th century Hindu culture. The slender building that soars 47 meters high makes its beautiful architecture unmatched. Seventeen kilometers east of Yogyakarta King Balitung Maha Sambu built the Prambanan temple in the middle of the ninth century. The parapets are decorated with bas-reliefs depicting the famous Ramayana story. This magnificent Shivaite temple derives its name from the village in which it is located.

Prambanan Temple is locally known as the Roro Jonggran Temple, or the Temple of the “Slender Virgin”. It is the largest and most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia. The Prambanan temple complex is located between the green fields and the village. This temple has eight temples of which three main ones are dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. The main Shiva temple rises to 130 feet and houses a magnificent statue of the consort Shiva.  There are 224 temples in the complex three of which the main temple is the Brahma Temple in the north, the Vishnu Temple in the south, and the largest of the three located between the Brahma and Vishnu temples is the Shiva Temple (47 meters high).

 Theater is available here. Here visitors can enjoy the sunrise behind the glory of Prambanan Temple. Visitors must be on site – in the area of ​​The Open Air Theater and the temple's archeological gardens – before sunrise around 5:00 am. The first open-air theater was built on the south side of the temple in 1960 and the second theater was built on the west side of the temple in 1988. On full moon nights in May to October the Ramayana ballet is properly performed here. Perhaps one of the most magnificent temples in Southeast Asia, Prambanan attracts many admirers every year from abroad.

The majesty of this temple makes Prambanan Temple one of the Hindu temples that attracts many tourists. In addition, here has also opened a theater for performances. This temple is included in a very famous historical heritage site in Indonesia.
